Objective: Study on histopathological characteristics and results of endoscopic mucosal resection in the treatment of colorectal polyps.
Subjects and methods: This is a prospective, cross-sectional clinical intervention study conducted on 33 patients with colorectal polyps, with a total of 57 polyps, of which 49 polyps were resected endoscopically. Resection was performed after injecting the mucosa with normal saline solution mixed with epinephrine. Bleeding sites were controlled using hemostatic clips. Patients were monitored for complications until discharge.
Results: Adenomatous polyps were the most common type (73.5%) among the histopathological types. Endoscopic mucosal resection had a success rate of 97.96%. There were no complications such as bleeding or colon perforation during and after the procedure.
Conclusion: Endoscopic mucosal resection is a safe method with a high success rate. In cases of large polyps that cannot be separated after submucosal injection, partial resection should be performed.
