PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF SECUKINUMAB IN THE TREATMENT OF PLAQUE PSORIASIS AT MILITARY HOSPITAL 175

Objectives: To evaluate the preliminary treatment outcomes of secukinumab in patients with plaque psoriasis at Military Hospital 175.
Study population: Twenty-two patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis treated with secukinumab at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Military Hospital 175, from May 2022 to June 2025.
Methods: A prospective longitudinal descriptive study.
Results: Following secukinumab treatment, PASI, BSA, NAPSI, and DLQI scores improved significantly compared with baseline (p < 0.05). At week 4, both PASI and DLQI decreased markedly; however, no patients achieved PASI90, PASI100, or a DLQI score of 0/1. At week 12, the mean PASI score decreased from 19.35 ± 8.90 to 2.99 ± 2.53, and the mean DLQI score decreased from 18.55 ± 4.70 to 4.82 ± 3.61. The proportions of patients achieving PASI75, PASI90, and PASI100 were 86.36%, 50.00%, and 0%, respectively, while 72.73% and 18.18% achieved a DLQI score ≤ 5 and a DLQI score of 0/1, respectively. In the exploratory analysis, manual labor occupation was associated with the PASI score at week 12. Patients with lower baseline PASI scores tended to achieve PASI90, whereas those with lower baseline DLQI scores tended to achieve a DLQI score ≤ 5. These findings require confirmation in studies with larger sample sizes. Adverse events were reported in 18.18% of patients, including one case of tuberculosis and one case of hepatitis B virus reactivation.
Conclusion: Secukinumab demonstrated significant improvement in disease severity and quality of life in patients with plaque psoriasis after 12 weeks of treatment. Adverse events were observed, including two serious events, highlighting the importance of careful screening and safety monitoring throughout treatment.
